The text was first created with cotton cord and then tucked in the fabric.

Home Is Where The Heart Is..

...One of my favorite sentences. It makes me miss home and my loved ones.

When the 'Make it Dimensional' Challenge was announced, it immediately reminded me of My Delightful Crinoline Lady. I wanted to create something that portrayed my feeling. But lack of time kept me behind and I could not initiate the project. But then I had to do it any how. 

I bid goodbye to the lady and placed a house and a tree full of double wrap loose french knots. The pink flocked beads and felts are from Itsy Bitsy Store in Delhi.  

A little bit of gardening in the front yard would have been great but time was running out. I started this piece last Tuesday. So, this was all that I could complete in a week. Wish I had a few more days in hand...;)

Here I used needle woven picot stitch for the leaves. To make the trunk I used bunch of treads, wrapped it with brown thread and couched it in the fabric.     

The most tiring part...the french knots. I used two layer of felt and one layer of flexible foam padding to make the tree pop off the fabric.

I will definitely grow a garden in the front yard by adding bits and pieces whenever i get time :)

My Delightful Crinoline Lady!!

Hello Friends!!!! For the past many days I was planning to make a post about this lovely crinoline lady, but didn't. But right after I saw Deepa’s post I was determined to write about what I have finished and what I am working on right now. Deepa you are true inspiration!!

Ohhh it’s such a nice feeling to win.. I know I am late…:( but better late than never!! Deepa thanks a lot once again for the lovely embroidery kit. I am dying to start it, but before that I need to wind up another project.

A small post....

...about hankies..made for my mom a few months ago. I took the pictures after she has already used it. Thus, a bit of stain is visible. This pattern is from an embroidery book.









The next pattern is by doe-c-doe. I made one in each corner of the hanky.

The force behind my creativity

There comes a point in your life when you don’t feel like doing anything but just flow with the rhythm of life. You eat, drink, sleep and yes go to work as well just for the reason that you need to be in this world. Well, I guess I was going through that phase of my life. Thus, I was far from the blogging world for so long. Anyway, let’s leave this aside and focus on today's post. This is indeed a special post dedicated to my grandmother, my mentor.

Below two are wall hangings that she machine embroidered many years back. She had her own teaching center then. Many of her students today run their own venture. She does not remember exactly when she made them and she cannot embroider currently either. But she has well treasured these old pieces and loves to flaunt them.

Crayon Tinting

Helooo everyone....

This time its crayon tinting. Since i don't get much time to work on large embroidery piece..i like to keep them small and simple. This helps me avoid piling up my unfinished projects. So, folks…make some good use of those old, not in use crayons of your children (I used mine :P) and make some easy and colourful embroidery…

Another BE project -A quick post

Lack of time and energy after long work days and various other obligations are a few reasons that compelled me stay away from embroidery and posting. But today I was determined enough to make a post at least. Today I want to share my second BE project. It’s a small square measuring 12 X 12 cm. You are likely to make out the stitches that I have used by seeing it.


All the knots are colonial knots. The background filling is pekinese stitch. I added the background to fill the space between the flowers. And for the rolled roses I would like to thank Deepa for her valuable BE lessons gift......they are a life long treasure.

The main intention behind creating this square was to try different BE stitches. I didn't have anything in mind at that point of time. But now that I have completed, I am wondering what to do with it. Should I frame it or use it in the middle of a cushion or.....any suggestion?

Back with a bang…oops old bangs :P

A big ‘hello’ to everyone out there. Old bangs coz today I am about to share two old projects, one finished and one unfinished

.

The first one is a handkerchief that I made for a friend of mine. Its special for me because it was my first BE project. The stitches are done with silk skeins. To personalize it I stitched the name of my friend. I was pretty satisfied with the outcome. After all it’s always fun to make stuffs for people whom you can count on your bad as well as good times, isn’t it?

Next is another unfinished project. It’s another mekhela for my mom. I used cotton Anchor floss. As you can see, I have used stem, satin and pistil stitch. I don’t even remember when I started it…lol……and see I am not even ashamed of saying so…..:P. Perhaps I will consider completing it as a part of my New Year resolution, let’s

see.

Anyways, I completed the traditional attire (mekhela) that I was making for my mom. She was on cloud nine after getting it!

Daisy Lady- My first Dotee Doll

My first Dotee Doll, I named her Daisy Lady. Check out her closely and you will know why i named her so.......yes you are right, since she is embellished mostly with lazy daisy stitch. Isn't she cute?



I made her for a very dear friend of my mine. In fact, she is already on her way to my friend's place..i hope my doll likes her new home.



When I started my blog, I planned that I will at least do one posting every week. But, I think my full time job won't allow me to do that....:P

The Beginning

Hi to everyone. When I am doing nothing I love to get absorb in needlework. I started learning embroidery when I was in school. My grandma is the one who taught me the basics. Till now I have learned several stitches visually browsing through various websites and craft blogs.

My main motto of creating this blog is to display the projects that I do whenever I get spare time. Apart from needlework, I also love doing painting and other craft works.



Today I would like to show you all a two year old project that is still incomplete.....:P It is a traditional attire that I am making for my mom. The whole piece is done using running stitch.
